Most of us love travelling. However, there is a section of people who do not feel travelling is important. They work their asses out but do not feel the need to rejuvenate. Travelling is much more than just a holiday! Through travelling we get to know about cultures and lives of different people across the world. This opens our minds to novel things and gives us an opportunity to experience life in myriad, thrilling ways.

We can travel to several places with different landscapes, but a holiday in an island is best. From pristine white beaches to lush green forests to sparkling waters to enjoying several mouth-watering cuisines, an island trip is actually a paradise for a lot of people.

So which island are you planning to go on a holiday next?
The Roatan Island is the destination for you. It is heaven, on earth. Situated in the Caribbean, it is around 65 kilometers from the northern coastline of Honduras. It lies between the two islands of Guanaja and Utila and is considered as the largest Bay Island in Honduras.

Roatan Island can be easily reached from continental US. However, its tourists come from across the nations, for its serene and raw beauty. A trip to this island by cruise ships is one of the most popular routes for reaching here. The island has a length of 40 miles while its width is around 2.5 miles. This remote island boasts of white-sand covered beaches, rich coral reefs and pristine bays.

Today, tourism has become the primary industry of Roatan. Roatan is a part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, which stands as the second largest barrier reef in the world. The waters of Roatan are swarming with colorful sponges and reefs. Snorkelers and divers can swim alongside whale sharks, mantas, barracudas, turtles, dolphins and schools of vibrant fishes. You must be thinking about the temperature of the water. To your surprise, you will find the water similar to your bathtub water as the temperature ranges from 80-84 degrees Fahrenheit! As the snorkelers say, they feel like watching a high-definition TV inside the water with the clear visibility of up to 80-120 feet deep into the sea.

You can find dozens of snorkeling and diving sites on this island. They will provide you with necessary training and equipment and will give a world-class experience. The central point of these activities is the village of West End, however one can find them scattered over the island as well. The tournament of Bill-fishing is held annually during the fall, when several tourists visit this boastful island. However, tourists especially the anglers keep pouring-in year round for the tuna, wahoo and marlin.

Apart from these, Roatan is the mecca for adventure lovers as this place offers all kinds of water sports such as kayaking, sailing, water-skiing and water-boards, to name a few.
This erstwhile pirate haven provides you with unspoiled charm and extraordinary marine life. Visit here once and get yourself refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated. Make it your next destination plan.
