Weather in Roatan

Roatan is quite well-known to have a tropical rainforest climate. But it’s important to know about the days and nights of the island before you start traveling here. When you know what the hot season, winters and the rainy season are like (most importantly the variations in temperature), you’ll be able to prepare yourself in a better way so that you can maximize the joy of your holidays in Roatan.

During the hot season, Roatan has many beautiful and sunny days. There’s scanty rain during this period. However, the island remains humid (63% to 93%) for most part of the year. Though relative humidity can go up to 99% rarely, it never drops below the 55% mark. Temperature throughout the year varies between 23 degrees Celsius (73.4 degrees Fahrenheit) and 32 degrees Celsius (89.6 degrees Fahrenheit). While in Roatan, you’ll rarely experience a day when the temperature falls below 21 degrees Celsius (69.8 degrees Fahrenheit).

Roatan gets some amount of rainfall as well. The island may have several spells of rains in a day, during the rainy season. The good thing is that it doesn’t rain for hours on end in Roatan, unlike many other parts of the world.

Also, it’s common to experience bright sunshine during the rainy season. June and July are the main rainy months. If you’ve planned your trip to Roatan around this time, you should not cancel it. It’s not necessary that it will rain everyday. Some amount of rain is also experienced between November and February. This is known as the winter rainy season; you should expect cooler weather during this period. If you’re coming to Roatan during these months, it’s a good idea to carry jackets and other rain gear that you may need for hassle-free movement.

Roatan remains warm from July till October. Days are shorter during December, and longer during June. Roatan doesn’t get hugely overcast, but sky can be cloudy at times during the month of July.
